The Simpsons

sorry i haven’t posted for two weeks been a bit tired and then unfortunately i caught covid and wasnt really able to focus on compilcated tv when i was unwell. one of the things i was able to enjoy was the Simpsons and below are my thoughts on the show.

The Simpsons is a classic family animated comedy and focuses on Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie and there family life and there friends. With each episode being a standalone story it’s a great show to put on when you don’t know what to watch or your tired and need something that doesn’t require to much concentration. with Homer’s silliness and Bart’s pranks which at time go a bit to far this light hearted show will have you smiling from ear to ear and roaring with laughter what more do you need from a comedy which is just what it says on the tin light-hearted, funny and silly.

Im back/Casualty and No Return

Britain’s Got Talent is back!!! The rise of the talent shows.

so once again it’s that time of year when all us Brits settle down every Saturday night to watch people who think there talented try to impress a panel of celebrity judges, every year you get two types of acts that gets us all talking the jaw dropping acts which have us all on the edge of our seats and leave us wanting more or the dam right strange that leaves us confused. The strangest one that sticks out in my mind is a women who went on to audition with a song about cooking crumble, it was so cringe worthy that became good enough for the judges to put through to the semi finals with the golden buzzer, there are also some other down right stupid acts that also get through. Some acts which are fantastic and go on to win the series includes Susan Boyle, George Sampson, Diversity and Attraction have genuine talents and actually deserve the opportunity to show the nation what they can do, go on to have successful careers and sometimes even end up getting a job in tv or film or music . It’s these people which if it wasn’t for shows like this wouldn’t end up with the careers that they have because they would have very little chance of making it in the industry. So all you people that think these shows shouldn’t be on tv think again because we wouldn’t have all the successful artist’s, actors and performers that we have to showcase there talents.

New Stations on DAB Radio:Kiss

just thought I would give you my thoughts on the upcoming launches of the new Digital Radio stations that will be launching throughout this month. Let’s start with Kisstory and Kiss Fresh I may on occasions dip into Kisstory as I do like some of the old dance anthems that were around in the 80’s, 90’s and early 00’s as those songs had a good beat to them but they are not to heavy beats and I do find some of the newer dance tracks a bit to intense for my liking. However Kiss Fresh doesn’t intrest me one bit as it has far to many rap songs in which I can’t understand what there attempting to sing and sounds like a load of babble. Will review two more stations next week.

Capital Punishment: should it be allowed?

Under uk law administrating a leathal injection is against the law no matter what the crime is, it’s wrong to sentence someone to death. Having watched a programme about the death penalty in America called Life and Death Row. The attitude some citizens seem to have is if you take a life then your life should be taken away from you, basically using the saying “a eye for a eye, a tooth for a tooth, a life for a life”. Now here in the UK we as a country believe that no matter how bad the crime is people should still have a chance. Now in America their law basically states that if you commit a crime that is horrific enough you don’t deserve to life, now some of the offenders on death row in this programme seem like perfectly ordinary citizens that made a decision at the time afterwards are full of remorse to the extent that some broke down with the guilt of knowing what chaos they caused to the victims families but in most cases the families say it is a bad thing they done but we don’t want the offender to lose their life as they prefer them to serve there time to learn from the mistakes they made. Which I think is the humane thing to do to give the offender time to be rehabilitated and released back into the world to live their lives better. However there are people in America who believe that the offenders life should also been taken which I struggle to comprehend because surely that makes them no better off than the offender and I just think it so sad that so people think that taking the offenders life as punishment is a ok thing to go ahead and I struggle to understand what the logic behind their views and beliefs are and I’m sure never will but it’s interesting nonetheless hearing other people’s opinions on the subject even if I don’t agree with them.

*if anyone would like to watch this documentary its avaliable to watch in the uk on BBC Iplayer.

Future of British media

With the news yesterday of the Independent ceasing it’s print edition and moving online only and with BBC 3 ceasing as a traditional tv channel, turning into a Amazon/Netflix style service from Tuesday 16th February 2016. Do we as a country expect access to what we want when we want it, in short yes we do however isn’t this setting up for furture generations to just exspect access to anything they want at a touch of a button. Are the media doing the right thing rather than saying if you miss the broadcast time of a certain show you won’t be able to follow the plot like back in the 90’s, aren’t the media basically failing to teach youngsters the importance of patience and rather implying that it’s ok to demand what you want when you want it. Now don’t get me wrong choice is a good thing but are we going to lose in effect family bonding time where everyone sits down together and shares the enjoyment of the show. Instead we’re going to end up in a situation where lets say a family of six all each using on demand and there all watching different programmes now I know live events still attract large audiences, however wouldn’t it be a shame if all the unique channels shut down and we ended up in a situation where we all just search for programmes we like without a clue which company produced the show. It would be a great shame if for example the BBC  or ITV ceased as broadcast channels and just shoved a load of programmes onto a website and said there you go that’s your lot for this week if you get through that tough you will have to wait. Let’s use on demand to compliment broadcast tv not replace as I want tv with personality, not just watch or don’t watch we don’t  care. I want tv which is friendly and has a personality with the friendly announcer at the start of the show saying we hope you enjoy watching this as much as we enjoyed producing it. Call me old before my time but that to me is part of the tv viewing exspirence.
